About Me

Hello, I'm Joe Callahan Jr, a fourth-year broadcast journalism major and sports studies minor at Penn State University.

As an aspiring sports television and/or radio personality, it is my passion for sports that has driven my aspirations. My dream is to gain a position as an analyst of a sports television debate talk show and a host of a radio or podcast sports show.

Throughout my life, I aspired to be an athlete. When I gained admission to Penn State, I immediately looked to tryout for the varsity football team. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I looked for other avenues to remain an impact on the world of athletics, the aspect of life that I have been obsessed with since the age of 4.

As a journalism student, I have gained experience on a multitude of broadcasting opportunities. I am a constant personality for sports talk shows on PSNtv (Penn State Network Television), Commradio (Penn State's Web-Based Radio Station), and TheLion90.7FM (A student-funded, locally broadcasted radio station). Through these outlets, I have been able to not only grow as a on-air talent, but I have learned the inner workings of the production side as well.

These ventures also gave me the tools to break out into the professional world. I was able to spend the summer of 2022 working for the media team for the 2022 Valley League Champions, the Charlottesville Tom Sox. I wish to further grow in the profession of journalism and pursue a career in sports broadcasting.
